Hong Kong Florist Role Offers Creative Career Path in Blooming Retail Sector

Hong Kong floral design studio seeks talented florists for full-time and part-time positions amid seasonal demand surge

A prominent Hong Kong floral design firm is actively recruiting creative, customer-focused florists to join its expanding team, offering competitive salaries, performance bonuses, and opportunities for professional growth in the city’s vibrant floral retail industry.

The position, available on both full-time and part-time bases, calls for individuals skilled in designing arrangements for everyday occasions, weddings, corporate events, festive celebrations, sympathy tributes, and bespoke customer orders. Successful candidates will also maintain flower quality, manage inventory, and support daily shop operations.

Core Responsibilities

Florists hired for this role will create bouquets, flower boxes, floral baskets, vase arrangements, table centrepieces, wreaths, and customised displays. Daily tasks include preparing arrangements for birthdays, anniversaries, graduations, seasonal celebrations, and funerals.

Customer service remains central to the position. Staff will recommend flowers and arrangements based on client preferences and budgets while providing professional guidance. Additional duties involve receiving, inspecting, processing, trimming, hydrating, and conditioning fresh flowers to preserve premium quality.

Employees will also water and care for indoor plants, ensure displays remain visually appealing and fully stocked, wrap flowers for walk-in customers and online orders, and coordinate with delivery teams to guarantee accurate and timely completion of orders.

Inventory and Operations

The role includes monitoring stock levels, assisting with ordering fresh flowers and supplies, maintaining inventory records, and minimising waste through proper flower care. Florists will operate point-of-sale systems, handle various payment methods, and keep workstations, coolers, and preparation areas clean and compliant with hygiene standards.

Support for seasonal promotions, holiday displays, visual merchandising, and marketing campaigns is also expected, along with general flower shop operations.

Qualifications and Experience

Previous experience as a florist, floral designer, flower shop assistant, or in floral retail is preferred. Floral design certification or professional floristry training is advantageous but not essential, opening the door for motivated beginners.

The ideal candidate possesses strong creativity with an excellent sense of colour, balance, and composition, along with good knowledge of fresh flowers, foliage, plants, and flower care techniques. Excellent communication skills, a customer service mindset, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively are essential.

Applicants must be comfortable in a fast-paced retail environment, physically capable of lifting supplies, and willing to work flexible shifts including weekends, evenings, and public holidays. Basic computer literacy and POS experience are advantageous. Fluency in Cantonese is preferred, while English and Mandarin skills are beneficial.

Employee Benefits

The company offers an attractive salary with performance-based incentives and overtime pay where applicable. Staff receive discounts on flowers, gifts, and selected merchandise, plus paid annual leave and statutory holidays in line with Hong Kong employment laws.

Comprehensive on-the-job training, opportunities for professional advancement, a supportive creative environment, and employee recognition programmes round out the benefits package.

Working Hours and Peak Seasons

Full-time and part-time positions are available, with five to six working days per week on a rotating roster. Additional hours may be required during peak seasons including Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day, Chinese New Year, and Christmas.

Industry Context

Hong Kong’s floristry sector has seen steady demand driven by corporate events, luxury hospitality, and cultural traditions favouring floral gifts. The role offers a pathway for creative individuals to build careers in a field blending artistry with retail operations.
